“The hottest places in hell are reserved for the dogfight promoters. Barbaric!—let the word resound from hill to hill, from mountain to mountain, from valley to valley across this broad land. Barbaric!”
It’s refreshing to learn that Senator Byrd actually believes in hell but it makes one wonder why he can get so bent out of shape about the dogfights. I agree that these dogfights are perverse & evil & mindlessly cruel & should not be tolerated in any society. I love dogs as well as all of Gods creation (while I confess to killing some of God’s fish occasionally & even eating them.)
However, there’s something wrong with a person or society that can get all bent out of shape over dogs fighting, while these dogs would fight anyway if left alone, when we can watch multitudes of our elderly living in poverty & turn a blind eye.
Many of the same people who can get so upset about dogfights don’t seem to have much compassion for the millions of babies whose brains are sucked out by a suction tube & bodies ripped piece by piece out of their mother’s wombs while they are alert & can feel the pain.
